ABOUT THE GAETAS

Our Family

Cassidy and I started dating our junior year of college. We dated for a little over a year and got engaged spring of 2023. We got married later that year on September 22nd, 2023. After being married for a year, we moved to Greenville, Texas in August of 2024 to begin our Missions Internship at Family Fellowship Greenville where we served for two years. While serving our internship, our family grew July 2025 when we welcomed our son Rowan into the World.

Cody's Story

I did not grow up attending church. Growing up, I struggled greatly with depression, which controlled my life. During my sophomore year of high school, I was invited to a youth group, where continued exposure to the gospel led me to recognize my need for a Savior. I came to understand that Jesus Christ, God’s Son, died and rose again, and that if I repented of my sin and believed in Him, I would be saved. On March 6, 2017, I put my faith and trust in Christ.

Although my life has not been without difficulty since then, Christ has given me a lasting hope and peace. The Lord led me to Mission University to prepare for full-time ministry. While at college, God convicted my heart for the people of the world who have never heard the gospel. Since October 2019, I have been working toward God’s calling in my life to be a career church-planting missionary, receiving my bachelor’s degree in Intercultural Studies as well as a master’s degree in Biblical Counseling.

Cassidy's Story

I was not born into a Christian household, but through God’s grace my mother came to faith when I was really little and removed us from a difficult and unstable environment, allowing me to be raised within the church. At a young age, I came to understand the gospel and placed my faith in Jesus, recognizing my need for salvation. Although I remained active in church, my teenage years were marked by a struggle for acceptance and a growing pull toward worldly influences. During high school, God used short-term mission trips to Nicaragua and later to Honduras to reorient my heart and clarify His calling on my life toward missions.

These experiences made clear my desire to serve others cross-culturally and share the gospel with those who may not otherwise hear it. After seeking counsel and prayerfully discerning this calling, I enrolled at Mission University to pursue full-time ministry training. That calling was further confirmed through a summer internship in Italy, where hands-on involvement in cross-cultural church ministry, evangelism, and service to children and refugees affirmed God’s direction and solidified my burden for the Italian people.

God's Call On Our Life to Italy

Cassidy and I took a survey trip to Italy in October 2024. While we were there, God burdened our hearts deeply for the people of Italy. We saw countless Catholic churches and had numerous conversations with missionaries and Italian believers about the spiritual climate of the country. While in the suburbs of Rome, we spent time driving through towns of 40,000–90,000 people, many of which had no gospel-preaching church.

The following day, during my personal devotional time, God spoke to me through His Word in Luke 15. He reminded me that I was once the lost sheep—and that He left everything to reconcile me to Himself. In that moment, I knew this was where God was calling us. Unknown to me at the time, Cassidy was praying that same moment that God would give me the same burden for the people of Italy that He had given her.

Since that moment, we have been preparing to serve as gospel-preaching church planters in Italy.
